Preparing for the unknown: Pack your first aid kit like a pro this summer
Travelling can be a risky business. Whether you're camping, boating or road tripping, it's important to be prepared for any little accidents you and your family may encounter along the way. Fingers crossed you won't need anything more than a Band-Aid, but it's always a good idea to be over prepared in the self-care department and to have a well-stocked first aid kit packed and at the ready.

The further you stray from the beaten track, the more we would recommend you cater for. However, to start you off on the right foot, we've put together our top 9 necessities below. So double check your first aid kit and make sure you've ticked all the boxes!

  1. Mosquitoes potions – absolute must-have when it comes to insect bites to relieve the itch or sting and get you back to having fun in no time.
  2. Bandages – whether you're securing a twisted angle or compressing a swollen joint, bandages are vital to have on hand in case a simple activity takes an unexpected turn.
  3. Sports strapping tape – not only is this an important inclusion for injuries such as a jarred finger, strapping tape can also come in handy to secure a torch to the top of your tent or cover an unexpected rip.
  4. Band-Aids – necessary for every member of the family to take care of cuts and grazes and keep them clean.
  5. Dressing cloth – granted this accounts for bigger, messier mishaps, however, you never know when cutting up the potatoes for dinner can go wrong.
  6. Scissors – easy to forget, but boy will you notice their absence.
  7. Safety pins - to secure bandages as well as any torn or damaged equipment and clothing.
  8. Antihistamines - ensure the pollen doesn't get the better of you and nothing stops you taking in the fresh air.
  9. Tweezers - for splinters gained hurling firewood or tree climbing.
